Hi everyone,

First year owning a 01 GTS and I hate to think about it but sooner than later the winter is coming and storage will occur. I garage it offsite at a local storage unit. Its a nice modern, clean and dry covered garage but there is NO power.

Oh yeah, im in buffalo ny so its very cold!

I've gotten some differing opinions on what to do with the battery:
1) Remove it, but that would be a b@tch to have to remove wheel at the site then roll it in/out etc.
2) hook a spare battery via jumpers to the car to let it drain that one down then recharge it occasinonally
3) pull some "fuses" need more detail on which to help drain of power.

Other than that i was planning on getting the oil changed right before, covering it and putting some extra air in the tires. Anything else im missing. Oh yeah, and how about opinions on starting vs. not starting the car during its storage time..?

Thanks for your help! Gavin

ok, should have done some more searching before posting. was quick to find some additional tips of
covering floor with plastic, mousetraps, fresh wax, stabil in gas tank, no starting with fresh oil seems to be the consensus. also gonna do some research to see if i can get some heated storage some where else...
gotta love this site!

You might want to cover the Al gas cap door with some kind of oil.

I've got a storage spot lined up, if I pull the battery access panel and put the wheel/tire back on, can I reach the battery to disconnect it without having to take it back off to do it?
