I just put in my 3.33 gears and the car feels like a sling-shot. I had 3.45 gears, and they were better than stock 3.07s, but these 3.33s are the best. I don't see how I could have been happy with the 3.55s that are available, but to each his own, I guess.

My 3.45s (with a race-prep polish treatment look like new after only 5K miles and they are for sale. My polished sport hoops and B&B 3" cat-back exhaust (with 3" cross-over) are also for sale.

talk to me about the 3.33's I have been contemplating the 3.55's but am worried about shifting too much. where are your shift points on the 3.33's? who are they made by?

My 3.33s were made by Dana. They are no longer in production (they haven't been making that ratio for 2 years now). Btw, the 3.45 ratio is also out of production. I'm told that Unitrax is going to produce a new 3.33 gear, but that rumor has been floating for over a year, and still no new gear. So I grabbed this set when I found them.

I don't know if I can describe the difference in terms of shift points -- it's not like I shift at different rpms now. The difference is that you stay in gear just long enough to maximize the car's torque, but not too long (as with the stock 3.07s) so as to make the car bog down. The car feels faster -- especially at highway speeds in mid-rpms.

I think the 3.45s are a good choice if you can't find 3.33s (and they are almost impossible to find). That's why I had the 3.45s. But I would think that 3.55s are just too high of a ratio -- even a stock Viper has so much torque that you don't need that much gear.

The 3.33 from unitrax have been "rumored" to being created for at least 3 years :( I wouldnt hold your breath.

The 3.55/3.54 supposedly work great on the gen 3, due to the 19 inch rims vs the 18s of the gen 2

IF your going to add any REAL power, gears will work against you, not help you. I had 3.55s in my gen 2, and my 1/4 mile times pretty much stayed the same, and I have done well over 250+ passes at the Drag strip, and could pull 11.50's with bolt ons, so i knew what I was doing..

My 2 cents.

How much for the exhaust? Feel free to PM me? Why the crossover? If I buy your system do I need the crossover or can it be installed without it?

Funny, he had the catback sold to me in a pm but then after waiting the 2 weeks that he asked, never got back to me :(

I haven't forgotten ... I told you it was going to be a couple of weeks before I switched the system out ... I just got back from some travel, and it's on my to-do list. I guess I shouldn't have included the B&B as available (my bad), but it's yours when I take it off, if you still want it.

Sorry to go off topic, but can you give some feedback on the B&B exhaust for the Gen III? Sound quality and interior resonance?

The 3.33 are great gears. I had Unitrak install a set for me in March. I have had 2 experiences so far with unitrak and they are a great company to make a purchase from.

My 3.33's are still sitting in my basement. Acquired from the "found" lot of 10 sets or so this Spring. I had a long talk with Devon from Unitrax. Delay after delay after delay. They were way, way off as of this Spring. Jon is correct that the "new production" story has been floating for a long time. Years. If you are waiting for those, good luck and buy a lottery ticket while you're waiting.

My set is going in sometime this fall, probably September. From all the research I've done, I feel the biggest advantage will not be in 1/4 mile times but in just general driving performance. Traction is already limited from a standing start. I'm looking for the gears to increase acceleration when the car is already moving. ie. when you and the vette next to you decide to punch it. We'll see. :smirk: :usa: :usa: :usa: :usa:

I gotta say, thats total crap on unitrax part, they found 10 sets this past spring? I asked well over 3 years ago for a set, and they kept feeding me the [******] about getting a set cut again. and they had 10 all along? grrrrrrrrrrr...

That is exactly what you will get. On an SRT, not really a launch advantage changing from the stock, 3.07s, because 500+ tq spins the tires bad with any higher gears, but the 3.33s will spin less than 3.55s. The real advantage is that the 3.33s feel like a sling-shot on the highway. ... bye bye Z06s
