89\' RT/10 Concept

While we much know what the car is and what it has, What happened the day it was first shown at the Detroit Auto Show? Was is put on the turntable, Did it have an enterance?

Every video I watch they say that the reaction to the viper was outstanding but I had always wanted what caused the hype to get that reaction.

..and what happened to VM-01 and VM-02? (VM-01 was a white RT/10 without the sports bar and I believe VM-02 was a red RT/10 that focused on the interior bot featured hood pins and had the headlights in the hood.)

I have a picture of the red one. It's at the Chrysler museum on the "barber" pole at the entrance. I'll try to find the picture.

I think this is the one that Viper GTS-R was talking about.

Here it is at the LA auto show that same year

Sorry for the quality but I had a crappy camera back then

God, I remember seeing that at the L.A. show that year....I must have just stood there for a half hour looking at it.......
Then in 92 saw the first one delivered to a Cal. dealer get unloaded off the transporter (Reliable??) across the street from my work (Nissan Dealer) and vowed right then...I would have one of these someday... :2tu:

Cheers,

I only have that one picture because at the time, even though I was facinated by the car, I had no dreams of ever being able to own one. How things have changed.

I can't help but wonder if it would be possible to route the headers in such a way that it replicates the "pipes sticking out of the gill" look of VM-02. Think it would roast the hood paint?

This is VM-01. The first of two "pre-production" viper RT/10's. There were two VM-01's. This one and one that was for street use. The street one had an ugly roll cage on it.

This is VM-02. Very Similar to production. I believe this is what lead to the concept, if not then it was the viper made after the concept show. Notice the windshield diffrence between the three.
