96\' RT/10 door speaker size

I'm ready to upgrade the door speakers in my 96' RT/10 and the computers at Best Buy and Circuit City say the speakers are 6.5", but it seems I've seen on here everyone seems to agree the speakers are 5.25". Can anyone tell me for sure? TIA

V10SpeedLuvr I bought 6.5's as they were supposed to fit in my 96 RT/10, and they wouldn't without cutting the speaker hole larger. I ended up putting them in the center console, and will put some 5.25's in the doors down the road when I get a chance.

If you put them directly on the door, they will fit, but if you were to use the stock location, 5.25" only.

Re: 96\' RT/10 door speaker size

I replaced the driver side door speaker last night using 5.25" Sony Xplods (to match the ones I put in my center console a couple weeks ago) and it wasnt as big of a pain as I was expecting. I would've done both doors, but it started to rain just as I was slapping the door panel back on. The only thing is the speaker sits so far deep inside the door, I dont really like the sunken look with the grille installed on the outside of the door panel. I'm going to pull the panel back off, pull the speaker out and install some custom spacers which will push the speaker out 1" or so and make it flusher with the grille. I'll post pics when I'm done.
