Well my 99 GTS ACR has been in the shop for almost 6 weeks now (some of you may remember I bought this at a DEA auction). They took the whole front end apart and had to straighten some things out to get the hood and front facia to line up right.
Below is a picture from the auction.
I also replaced the radiator, headlights, and radiator support. They are now in the process of repainting the whole car (silver) and striping it (steel grey). I also had the bbs's cleaned up, painted and recleared. I think the car will be awesome when it is done. I can't wait to get it back and have lots of mods planned and parts sitting in my garage. These include slotted and drilled rotors, and ebs greens. New mats, MGS shifter, glovebox door, lighter. Randomtech cat back, msd wires, and bosch plugs are on their way. Then I will probably do rockers and b&b headers.
You see I have had 6 weeks of spare time reading this forum and thinking of all the things to do to my viper - if only it were here :(
I will post pics as soon as I get it back.

Sounds like you are going to have it just like you want it! That's great! :2tu:

My suggestion is to Mod the hell out of it, then drive the hell out of it!! :headbang:

Thanks Guys- I can't wait. I had it home for about a week before I put it in the shop and it seems like a dream now that I ever had the car
I paid 27 for her and another 8 in new parts, painting, striping, repairs, etc. The car didn't need a total paint job but I absoultely wanted stripes so it wasn't much more to do the whole car.

Garwood,

I didnt see your prev. posts. But in that pic, the car looks pretty good. How come the hood and front end didnt align? Was there any frame damage?

Sweet deal, man. Congrats on a fantastic car; it's going to look amazing when you're done. Post pictures when you've got it the way you wanted it!

The car had been hit in the front. Whoever fixed it did a ****** job using washers and shims. That's why the front fascia ahd hood have those spaces. We tore the whole front end apart and replaced everything that wasn't right. There was no frame damage but the radator housing which supports everything was poorly repaired and all the brackets and latches needed to be replaced.
I am sure I will be putting in a vec2. I wioud like to find someone in my area -phila-nj- that can install it and dyno tune if anyone knows a good tuning shop.
I also have to check to see if the recalls were done. The 5 points say momo 2002 or something like that. I'm not sure what the other recalls are. Can I take the car to any dealer to have them done?
Thanks
Gary

And here I thought those gov't auction things were a total scam. Nice find! Does it have a clear title too? That would be really sweet. :headbang:

No, unfortunately it has a reconstructed title. I guess I will feel it when I sell it but I don't think that will be for awhile. I have wanted a viper for years and can't think of very many playthings I'd rather have. :headbang:

Re: Recall info

I'm guessing Chuck Tator in his exhaustive database can tell if the 998 and 999 recalls were done on your car. They are free but they MUST BE DONE BY SOMEONE THAT KNOWS WHAT THE HELL THEY ARE DOING. Amazing after all these years they still are being done wrong and if they are done wrong you will not be able to remove the oil filter and then you will need to have all the incorrect welding redone. There should be plenty of guys in your area that will direct you to a competent tech that will do this as it should be done.
