A/C Low Pressure fill port... does yours leak?

My A/C is now blowing cold, after I filled it up with a few cans of R134. The pressure is holding steady, but I noticed the other day that the low pressure fill nozzle (covered by the blue cap with an "L" on it) bubbles as though it is leaking when I take off the cap.

My buddy's Viper does the same thing. Can some of you unscrew your cap and let me know if it's bubbling? I have a feeling that it shouldn't be. It appears as though the blue cap is keeping it from completely discharging, though. I still have the Maxcare warranty in effect, but before I take it in for work I want to make sure that this is an abnormal occurrence...

Thanks!

EDIT - To clarify, the low pressure port is filled by using a quick disconnect setting (similar to an air compressor fitting). When I unscrew the blue "dust" cap, I notice that it is bubbling... I'm assuming the dust cap stops the bubbling, but I want to know if it is supposed to be that way.

No bubbling or leaking on mine. The dust cap should be just that, a dust cap. Meant to keep dirt and debirs out of the valve. Looks to me like its a standard schrader valve. Maybe you should go to a local bike shop and get one of those fittings used to tighten the valve. Good luck

Hmmm, sounds like that could be the problem for sure...

I'll have to go track one of those tools down somewhere!

Thanks for the input...

I just bought the tool from NAPA. $5. Buy the one that looks like a screwdriver, and is made for tire valves. The regular shrader tool is too short to fit inside the fill nozzle.

There were two or three kinds at my local Napa. I got the one with the long screwdriver-type look. The others were too short to reach into the low pressure nozzle. It works with the high pressure side, too (make sure you tighten that as well).

The regular schrader valve tool had a large and small tip. You only need the smaller tip for AC. Not sure what the larger tip is for (I know it's for a larger Schrader valve, but I'm not sure exactly what).
