ah. they do have weak renault trannies which are at their torque-rated limit from the factory...

...also, some electrical problems (dashboard).

a warning - do not attempt to play with the turbos (more boost). they do not like that and parts (pistons) are very very very expensive.

if you are over 6 feet tall- forget about a lotus.

but the grip and handling- ah... those alone are worth the ***** british car admission price :)

easy to backyard repair with the proverbial duct tape (car is fairly simple), but if you need parts- they will be super expensive. think viper experience, but a fragile viper one...

Just saw a Lotus Esprit yesterday.. It reminded me of when GM gave me one to drive for comparison testing and when I sat down in it my knees were in my face!

At 6'3+" I was way too tall.. :(

DON'T do it....If you are a big guy (6' or bigger) you will have a problem with side window vision. They are fun cars from 0-80 after that what a PIG. I would NEVER trade my viper for one. Pluse you can drive the Sh*t out of your viper and maintenece costs are very low. Not true on a Lotus...Plus a body style change is due soon and then you will have an out dated car. Just my opinion...
