ABS?

I know ABS became standard in 2001, but was it ever avaialable before then as an option? Because I see some cars on Ebay from before 2001 claiming to have ABS, don't know whether to beleieve it due to the fact that the listers of the cars don't seem like viper specialists, i would prefer a car with ABS so its a big ???

Nope. ABS was never offered until 01'. On 01-02' ABS was standard. Pre-01' ABS was not available at all from Dodge. To equip a pre-01' car with ABS is/was extremely expensive and I cant think of anyone who has done the upgrade

Ebay seems to default all car ads to having ABS.

There are aftermarket ABS kits out there. John Archer is one vendor who sells/installs them. I thought it was around $8k or so, but I could be wrong.

eBay is a training ground for idiots that don't know anything about Vipers to write an ad for a Viper.

A fully modified stocker carbon fiber highly modded Gen 2 just sold for $37,000 I was reading on another thread.

There's a lot of ebay scammers and not only are they kinda stupid about the cars, they usually don't write english very well. pre 01 Vipers listed with ABS I would consider just another rip-off scam artist and stay away.

My 1997 GTS has ABS, it is the 2001-2002 system that I installed on my car. There are some earlier systems that were added to some Vipers, but not very many. If the car had added on ABS, it would definately be mentioned as added on ABS in the Ebay ad.

Valaya Racing has been doing this modification as well, I spoke to them at the last VOI.
I believe they are now using SRT ABS equipment.
