Air filter question

Do I need to modify the airbox to put K&N filters on a '96 RT (like for other Gen1)?
What about S&B?
Which one is better?

S&Bs are a better fit...Performance should be the same...Roe Racing sells them...AL..

I have a K&N and fits perfect also.

My 96' had K&N filters when I bought it, but I've taken them out to clean them before and they fit perfect also. I saw no previous signs of modifying the box or the filters but it was still a perfect fit.
