I need to change my air filters on my SRT. I have stock filters but think I should now go with K&N. Can I just buy the K&N filters, or does it come as an assembly like the one Partsrack sells? Is that one considered "smooth tubes"?
Or can I just swap the filters out without the whole "assembly"?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

You should be able to buy just the K&N filters, but I'm a Gen 1/2 guy, so I'm not positive

"smooth tubes" are smooth intake tubes (as compared to the accordian style stock tubes) and they are also sold seperately from almost all Viper vendors

On my 2006 SRT with stock air box I went with the Green Filters, they are excellent direct replacement filters. They say the greens give more air flow and better filtering than the stock filters.

As of now K&N does not make a direct replacement filter for the SRT factory air box, but may be coming out with them any day.

Knuk, What Hiss says is true abour replacing the stock OEM filters with Green Filters but if you want a better performance improvement you should install the K & N Filtercharger Kit and replace their filters with Green Filters.

Green Filters does have Green Filters to replace the K & N filters that come on the K & N Filtercharger Kit. Our AtRo Sealed Ram Air Induction Box System includes these Green Filters in all our kits. I have them in stock and they sell for 149,95 per set of 2.

You can see them on my web site at:

I don't have a Gen3 and don't even know which airbox system is OE or K&N when looking at the pics...but in many of the pics the plastic looks waay too close to the filter throughout much of the filter's 360deg circumference.

I made my own with 3"(I think it was) radiator truck hose. $10 total.
