Mopar oil filter = p/n 5281090

Anyone using these I can show you where to get them for $3 each. But you must buy a case of twelve, that is the only catch.

I bought a case for my truck, and they are the real thing from a MOPAR dealer.

Guys,

Thank you very much, especially Chuck ! ;)

It's sometime really difficult here in Europe to get any kind of informations from the dealer site...

particularly, if you want to get the correct ones! :D

Hi chuck, I hit the wrong key. Ols age i guess. What years does those specs fit on the SRT-10 Vipers? 2003 and up?

Hi Robbie,
We call that "old age rot"! ;)

Alignment specs are for 2003-2006 SRT-10's plus 06 coupes.

Your Very Welcome Vladi! If you want I can also fax you the specs out of the service manual if needed.

I've been doing some track days and increased my negative camber to -1.1 front and -0.7 rear for this past weekend. Drove it for a few weeks prior and will probably just leave it at these settings. Steering seems a little more crisp but not too twitchy on our freeways. I expect a little more inside tire wear, but tracking eats up my tires anyway.

Mopar oil filter = p/n 5281090

DO NOT use the 090 oil filter. A different filter has been spec'd for the Viper because of some issues with the 090 in the Viper application.

Never heard of any problems with the 090 filter! Where did you hear this?

I did a lot of filter testing last year on the Auburn Hills dyno after some problems arose. A different filter is spec'd for the'06 Viper.

Ok Guys,

what's now the right one??

Mopar oil filter = p/n 5281090 or 05037836AA ??

.
I did an awful lot of work to resolve the oil system issues for the 2006 engine and this new filter 05037836AA is the outcome. The 090 just does not do the job for the Viper with its high oil flow rate.

Dave it sounds like you work for DC, that's great you can open up to us but before you put Viper owners in a PANIC  , PLEASE have all your info correct! It will also cut down on my phone calls!

You said you've done lots of testing on the Viper oil systems a YEAR ago and NOT to use the 090 filter and for everyone to use the 836AA filter. Well this is what I came up with on the 836AA filter, using ALL of a Dealers resources:

Parts book [E-fiche 04-06] 06 Viper oil filter: 090
DealerConnect/Parts Inquiries:
#5037836AA MSRP $11.20
Model year in: 2005
Model year out: 2006
Rulling: NRNMREF 66
Stock in all 25 USA Depots: 0
No supersedence forwards or backwards and no narrative
Pipeline, supplier ship commitment: NO date
Back ordes: 0
Orders: 0
Could not find any TSB's

Then I called S.T.A.R [Dealer Tech Line], they DID NOT know anything about a new oil filter for Vipers, nor did they not know about ANY problem with the 090 filters for Vipers!

I also just took delivery of another 06 Viper and it has the 090 filter on it!

I am not saying your wrong and I'm sure someone above you is pulling the strings on your research but hey, make sure all the ducks above you are all lined up before putting this info out on a public forum!! :bonker:

OK flame suite is on now! ;)

Guys,
I have been using the K & N oil filter HP-2004 for years with no problems. Check out at: http://knfilters.com/oilfilter.htm

Chuck, My car is still not right after setting the rear camber at negitive like we discussed. I have now found six different publications with different specs.

My customer Rick, "Yelloh", is bring his car back down to me, after he returns from vacation later this month, as it is brand new and and I am going to put it on our alignment rack and make a print out of his existing specs. His car handles like a dream. It is the best handling Viper I have driven so far and is factory stock as far as the suspension is concerned. I will keep you posted as to my findings.Should be interesting.

Robbie
