Another PS2\'s Rock thread

So I just got my PS2's installed. They are night and day differnce from the runflats. My suspension is stock and Im still on stock wheels. Had been waiting for the release of the PS2.

First thing I felt is smoother ride. Then when I got on freeway on normal route home, I noticed car didnt wander as much or follow grooved road. There is one bend in freeway where car weaves back and forth for about 20ft. Now with PS2's it is very neutral on the road. I got on it a few times in first gear and it didnt seem to wheel hop either. It may not be gone but I didnt notice any yesterday. Even though my front run flats were like new and rears were a little more then half tread, i dont feel like I wasted money. This is the way the car should be from factory. Guess thats why there using them on the 08's.

Just wanted to add my feedback.

That's nice to hear. Mine go on Saturday (Gen 2). I bought them for traction, but I have similar road groove problems for MILES on certain roads. I hope I have the same findings as you!

Re: Another PS2\'s Rock thread

What kind of a tire kit are you carrying in lieu of the runflats?

None, I may order something from tire rack for if I go on a trip. But around town as most of my driving is, Im not too worried about it. Thats what AAA towing is for.

Re: Another PS2\'s Rock thread

Where are you guys purchasing the PS2's at? And how much $$ for the rear size?

I absolutely hete the idea of replacing my tires with just 450 miles on the car, but I think I hate the wheel hop even more. I suppose I could sell the stock run-flats though. Probably just keep the fronts on the car.

Is there a Dodge truck or something with the same bolt pattern that uses one of those 5" wide temporary spares? ... 'maybe' fit in the trunk?

Griots and others sell a small air compressor that I've carried for years. Never needed it (knock on wood). I also carry a small patching kit. Never needed it either.

I kept my run flats on the stock wheels and switch them for long trips, just in case.

The PS2's are definitely better riding than the run flats.

O'Reilly's sells a Green Slime kit complete with compressor for about $20. Stuff works.

Tire rack or Parts Rack. There was a thread in Supplier specials forum. Parts rack has price listed. I got set of 4 shipped for $1600 total. They arrived the next day.

What do you notice most about the ride difference, the run flats on my 06 seem to ride much harsher than the ones that were on my 04. I seem to get more of a rumble with the 06, never had a vibration like out of balance with either set

We also carry the 'green slime' kit for the run-flats. We'll run the run-flats until they're pretty worn out, then PS2's will be more readily available. We don't track the car, the tires warm up fine if we ever GET warm roads here! It's only 30 degrees as I write this--- :curse:
JonB from PartsRack had a good deal on his PS2's, don't know if he has any left now. Michelin said no more to be available until '08 Viper is released.

Re: Another PS2\'s Rock thread

I'd like to keep the stock run-flats and wear them out too, but that will take me years!

I just feel the wheel hop takes it's toll on the entire car/drivetrain, so changing tires is sounding like a good way to eliminate (or at least reduce) it.

Re: Another PS2\'s Rock thread

The sidewalls on the PS2's are much softer than the run flats. The ride is still firm and sporty, but not harsh. Traction is also improved with the PS2s.

Your 06 is a coupe. The coupe's chassis is stiffer than the convertible and seems to transmit more of the run flat's harshness into the car.

I have a 04 SRT-10 in black and a 06 VOI9 coupe #74 and noticed the same thing. My run flats are in storage.

Re: Another PS2\'s Rock thread

THANKS for all for the REFERRALS and the orders. We still have 3 sets in stock at this moment, but no more are expected for several weeks. In Fact, TireRack actually bought 1 set from PartsRack !

The new 2008 Viper will have a self-contained sealer-compressor kit like the SRT-8s have, and we have this in stock NOW for $89.

Or carry the fix-a-flat goop, 2 cans, truck size........

No. Kumho Ecsta V700's are a dot approved R compound race tire. These work great on the track and are a very nice street tire for the rear of high hp cars.

Anyone upgrading to PS2s looking to sell the SRT-10 OEM run-flats? I need either a full set or just rears in low mile condition (8/32's") Please email me at [email protected]. Thanks

DavidSB 6 above, please contact Hammrhead 1 above. I now pronounce you tire vendors/customers. If needed I can process the funds for you, but dont need a dime.

Ok I got my new PS2's on this weekend!! Ohh my:naughty: !! Short of not knowing how long they will last here is what I can tell you. They are a little quieter, they are so much smoother riding on than the RunFlats. You can realy feel the change. Now on hooking up. Once they get warm....:firedev:
My car has a couple mods on it putting it at (480rwhp 502rwtq). They truly put the power down compared to the RunFlats, this isn't to say you cann't spin them (you can). The downside and I see only one so far. Because of the material they are made of they pick up a lot more road crap and fling it. Ohh yea they ZANO up better that Runflats for some reason too.
