    Dear NorCal members,

Its "winter" and I'm ready to send my front and rear fascia, side sills in for painting and since I'm new, I don't know a great cheap painter in the area...anyone know "a guy"?

While I'm at it, I'm thinknig of having my ACR wheels re-chromed as well....anyone know a great plater?

    Regards,
    Aaron

You can try my guys at Sunny Autobody. Great quality, customer service and absolutely the best price in town. I had my 08' hood and bumper on my Copperhead painted there last year and it was a perfect match. I also referred a few other Viper owners and they were all very satisfied.

Just call Denny and tell him Robert (the guy with the Copperhead Viper) referred you and he'll take special care of you.

I did a post last year about this very subject. I am very happy with my paint work, front facia & side sills. I have pasted in the text below:

This came to me from a fellow Viper Club member who raved about a guy in Fremont who did some paint work on his Viper and he was ecstatic about the job done.

My front air dam had the usual scrapes and I had intended to get it repainted for some time but never got around to it. About a month ago I was on 680 north in Walnut Creek and a huge piece of folded up carpet flew off a truck in front me and struck the front of my 2000 Steel Grey GTS w/Stripes. Fortunately it did not do any structural damage but it messed up the paint pretty good on the front end and down the right side. The insurance company sent me to a body shop to get an estimate which I knew would be a disaster but I had to play their game. After getting the estimate I called Julio Virrueta @ 510-557-0747 to see what he could do (this is his cell number). Julio is the paint shop foreman at Advantage Auto Body in Fremont and the owner lets him do side work there nights and weekends to keep him happy. Julio also worked at a Dodge dealer in their body shop for 8 or 9 years so knows Vipers very well.

To cut to the chase, Julio worked on my car over the Memorial Day Weekend and did a superb job. He painted the entire front end, both rocker panels and rubbed out the rear valence for less than the insurance estimate for just painting the front end. The color match is perfect, he did 5 spray outs and remixes to get it right, and his workmanship is subperb. He is also an all around nice person and great family guy. Ask him to show you the irredescent metal flake flames he painted on the hood of his own truck. Not my bag but a work of art none the less. You cannot even tell they are painted on. I hope this helps some of my fellow Viper owners as I would not have had any idea where to turn if a fellow Viper Owner had not steered me in the right direction. Thank you to Doug Drummer for the referral.

Glad they were able to take care of you Aaron! :2tu:

Now let's "break" them in by going to a HPDE event. You should join us at ThunderHill. A group of us attend several events at ThunderHill every year. It's always nice to have fellow Vipers join in. :drive:

    Dear Robert,

That sounds interesting, I have a few to-do's to finish up before I'm taking the car anywhere:

    1) pads and rotors all around
    2) re-chrome the rims
    3) get the windshield removed and installed with a new gasket that hasn't dried out
    4) place the front decal and rear emblems (I'm figuring one of these events someone will be there with a GTS that hasn't been re-painted so I can carefully measure and then apply to my fascias)
    5) differential fluid change

Then she'll be perfect again and ready for a track romp!

    Regards,
    Aaron
