Are there any shops out there that sell just a set of pipes that replace the rear muffler? This should be an easy and cheap part to make and seems like there is quite a bit of interest in it. I don't plan on putting an exhaust on the car but would like to have a little more rumbly exhaust tone.

thanks,

Adam

There is nothing special about 2 straight pieces of 2.5" exhaust pipe. Any muffler shop can supply them. I had the muffler removed and 2 pieces of straight aluminized tubing put in for a total of $30 dollars installed. I had the stock tips put back on. This a very simple mod to do and well worth while for starters.

Go to a muffler shop and just have them make you one. Don't spend more than $100! You'll get the same thing, you might have to buy tips but they put Magnaflow tips on mine for $20.

I LOVE driving the car now.

I think my best alternative is to go to an exhaust shop. Unfortunately around where I live they are all Rip Off Artists. I went to school in more of a country setting (Virginia Tech) and down there an exhaust shop would fab up what I want for under 50 dollars.

I saw some pics of the Snake Oyl rear assembly and all I have to say is "YIKES." 500 dollars for THAT??

I'll have to search around for a decent place. Thanks!!

Adam,

If you only need simple 2.5" straight pipes: (1) measure the length you need to replace the mufflers; (2) go to Pep Boys and buy the pipes longer than your required length (assuming they don't have the exact length); and (3) cut them down to exact length. Pep Boys also have pipes with flairs if need them.
