I am thinking about replacing my gen1 sills
with the Autform fiberglass pieces. I like the
smooth look that updates the car. Has anyone
tried these? How is the overall quality, paint
and fit-up?

Thanks

The fiberglass is a bit thicker than the sheet metal of the stock pieces so plan on doing a slight bit of work fitting them under the lip of the door sill. There was minor prep work involved before painting. I used Gen I Autoform sills on my GTS and had excellect service from them, even attatched sill skirts and they held up well on both street and track. Good product, good company.

I had heard of some aftermarket side sills catching on fire due to heat. Anyone know who manufactured those?

I bought the Autoform Side Sills through Parts Rack. Came in scratched, and they chipped all to hell in about a week. I was on the phone with them told them the problem and they didn't have solution for me...

Be careful, quality isn't so good. Money spent better elsewhere... I complained but didn't push the issue too hard, my fault..
