Ok let's start of by this. There was a post about this a few days ago by a guy named Jon from AR. I went and looked at this car night before last and drove the plus got a copy of the title of the car. Well the car run's out great & look's even better. It's a 99' Solid Silver GTS with 4800 miles. Well it shows 4800. But on the back of the title on 10/27/00 the odometer read 4128 miles and then on 2/28/01 the odometer read 2162 miles and now the car is showing 4800 miles. I talked a few other Viper owners and they said for about 300 bucks a Viper Tech can make a Viper's ECU read what ever he wants as for miles. I have a copy of the title to this car and if anyone wants a copy of this please just let me know and I can fax it to them. I talked with this guy last night and he said it was just a mis-print on the title and I told him I'd been around cars for ALONG time and they do not just mis-print titles. Also if you do a search (Control+F) in the classifieds page for (615)-672-5100 you will find two more listings under this users name. The other one has been wrecked and fixed. This car's VIN runs through Car Fax (www.carfax.com) find and I also run the number though my local Dodge dealer and the only thing the were showing on it was it has had a wheel replaced and a interior trim item. I just wanted to let all you buyers know this. He also told me there was a guy flying in from Atlanta,Ga tonight to buy this car. All I have to say to is your wasting your money flying up here. Thanks and Happy Motoring

The PCM does keep a separate tally of the mileage. It can be read with a DRB at any dealer. Note, for those with a second PCM its values will not mean anything. PLus, any mechanic can reset the PCM to any value desired. This is in case the dealer replaces the PCM for some reason, then they can match it to the previous units numbers.

I run a second PCM with non-production spark and fuel and other goodies such as removal of that annoying 1-4 shift thing. As a result my PCM doesn't come close to the odometer.

On another note dealers record the mileage at each dealer visit and that goes into your cars warranty history. That may be where you came up with those numbers. It is only as accurate as the dealership mechanic and/or data entry clerk. I had mine serviced out of state once and they put in an incorrect number. That could be the cause here as well. Given the dates it sounds plausible that only 40 some miles ocurred from the end of October until February. That is winter time and it could have been garaged.

I definately does happen....... when I registered my 1996 GTS with 5,300 miles..... I dropped off the paperwork, they said they would have the registration the next day...

the lady called me back like 2 hours later saying she might have made a mistake..... she had put in 53,000 miles, instead of 5,300..... luckily she caught it...., I just had to go down there again and fill out the papers again

It actually happened on my car. When the first owner went to have the emissions tested, they recorded 23000 miles instead of the 2300. It even showed on carfax. I ended up getting a afidavit from the original owner just in case but it was obvious in my case of the mistake.
