Guys, when i have tried to burp my cooling system(on a cool/warm engine), i remove the cap from the surge tank and the water level is at the top and any pressure i apply to the upper radiator hose will cause the water to spill over the top of the surge tank. Should i just allow this to happen?

No, Pull half out. Some have pushed a funnel into the opening which I think is a great idea

I closed the garage door, got out my light and was able to view my coolant recovery bottle.

My coolant level is right about even with the bottom mark, or the "Cold" mark. Is even with the mark acceptable? Or should it be slightly higher?

That is fine but if you are anal you could pull off the tube on the cap going to the tank, insert a funnel and fill to just below midpoint.

Slowly squeeze the radiator hose when complete, both hands, and you should hear the excess fluid go out the tube into the overflow tank...release and it will **** back.
