I have never installed a car stereo system in my life. I was thinking about getting the Kenwood Excelon KVT-817DVD DVD/CD player with 7" video screen:
Will this fit a 2001 RT/10? It is single-DIN, so I assume this is a standard size, but I know very little about this stuff.
I read somewhere they you simply pop off the factory Alpine stereo, connect the wiring harness to your new head-unit and then stick it in. It can't possibly be that simple. I stared at my Alpine stereo, with flat-head screwdrive in hand and had no idea how to pop it off without scratching it.
I'm dangerous!
I'm thinking about having Extreme Vehicle Builders install it since they aren't too far away in Brewster, NY. But if you think I can DIY (do it yourself), send me some pointers.
Also, anyone know if you can disable the DVD safety feature on the Kenwood KVT-817DVD so it plays while the car is moving? Where/website do I go to find these "hacks"?
