Have been looking at other options than new Forged pistons, crank, and rods. Plus cost of Labor VS. A Salvage Gen 1 or gen 3 motor. Is this possible without any major/costly modifications?

96-99 is still gen II (GTS) and yes the block will drop right in.

94-96 RT/10 is Gen I, it will fit but it's not the same, look for a gen II.

A used shortblock isn't going to be cheap. If you look around for a good crank, buy new rods/pistons, you can get yours rebuilt for a decent price and have something super strong.

I have a 600 HP engine ready to go. It has about 20K on the clock and came out of a 96 RT/10. The engine has ported Stage 3 heads as well as 1.7 T&D roller rockers.

Greg, a friend of mine has a 2001 engine, tranny, wiring setup that he is going to sell. He bought it to put in a Charger, but decided to sell and buy a complete Viper!
If you are interested, let me know. I'll get you two together.
