Absolutely ridiculous article. Read the whole thing and you learn the new Viper whooped the Vette in all driving areas, but because it has 7 more cubic feet of cargo space and is easier to get into it "loses." I just don't get it.

A 14 year old in a 20 year old body wants to quote C/D on this: At lower rpm, the exhaust sounds like a tuba having sex with a vacuum cleaner, and the baritone thrum of engine and road at highway speeds gets annoying in a hurry

WTH?

Viper wins on the track. It’s easier to drive around the road course as well, thanks to great feel from the quick steering and solid brake pedal. The Viper is more benign than you would think. There’s so much rear-end grip that it’s difficult to get a little back-end slide using the gas pedal, although the Viper is harder to manage once it does go sideways. We still prefer the Viper’s mild understeer to the Corvette’s tank-slapping oversteer.

So why the second-place finish? Blame the cruelty of the real world. At lower rpm, the exhaust sounds like a tuba having sex with a vacuum cleaner, and the baritone thrum of engine and road at highway speeds gets annoying in a hurry. The trunk volume of 15 cubic feet seems optimistic—a road trip for two will require soft luggage. In a street or track race, the Viper comes out narrowly ahead, but in real life, the Viper’s claustrophobic cabin and noisemaker mechanicals are too much of a handicap to overcome.

How does the Viper win in all the performance categories and lose overall? Does C & D use the same criteria for evaluating mini vans as it does race cars?

I was looking for a spot to provide C & D with some feedback but couldn't find one. Stupid conclusion.

One accurate statement, "the Corvette looks plain parked next to the Viper", no kidding!

Heres something directly from the thread I'm talking about:

What kind of sober person is going to pay 90K for a Dodge? I know the Viper does have 600HP, but really,it'll fall apart. I can't believe I'd say this, but the Z06 looks WAY better than the SRT creation.

Do you think it will be able to compete with the likes of the R8, Vantage or 911 Turbo?

Will this car handle well?

Will all this power be exploitable?

LOL... Just click on his user name... :rolaugh::rolaugh::rolaugh::rolaugh::rolaugh::rolaugh::rolaugh::rolaugh::rolaugh:

I am twenty three and I live in New Jersey with my sister. I like all sorts of cars though I am partial to British and Italians. Having had several bad memories with American cars, particularly GM's, I am slightly harsh although I try not to be. I do not like SUV's apart from Land Rovers because I own one and I have found it to be brilliant. All time favorite would be the Aston Martin DB9 and least favorite would be a Hummer H1 Alpha. Its a terrific off-roader but its like a quad. It shouldn't be road legal. Favorite, moderatly priced car? Alfa Romeo. Favorite type of car? Hot hatch. Particularly the VW Golf GTI!
