CHECK ENGINE question

Hi Everybody!
Yesterday, when I turned my Viper on, the check engine light appeared and stayed on. The code reader indicates a 1490 code, which means «Low speed fan real circuit check: an open or shorted condition detected in the low speed radiator fan relay circuit».
At least, nothing too bad.

But everything seems to work: even with the check engine light on, the fan turns on when I put the air conditioning and I have heard the fan on at high and low speed when the engine is on and warm.

Any idea why the check engine light turned on?
If I erase that trouble code with my code reader, the check engine light will turn off? If yes, the problem will be resolved or it will persist even if the check engine light is off?

I have a Roe Racing fan kit on the car, I don’t know if it matters.
Thank You All!
