I see several Viper owners with Cobras as well. I have a friend who just built a Cobra(Unique Motor Cars). Bored a 351 Windsor 30 over to 408 CI. He is in the 520-550HP range. We aren't able to get together often and I wondered which car would be stronger from 40-140 or so. The original Cobra performance numbers are similar to a Vipers in acceleration. Has anyone put the two side by side?

VERY SCARY!
Never clocked it on a track when it had a 460 in it, but now it has a Ford SVO 514 - over 600 hp! We are still testing and tuning but it is a handful.

I rode in this car last year while on break in. I was a little nervous in the passenger seat--no roll bar. His wife won't ride in it --yet. It is a rumbling keg of powder. With the 850 double pumper, he has to keep the RPMS up so as not to load up.

I understand the weight difference. In trying to do a little research on the original 427-428CI Cobras, the performance numbers were not what I expected--they were less. Top end was less than a Viper and acceleration numbers were similar. He has original type tires on the car, ie: much narrower than a Viper. I think he will have a hard time getting traction. Also--he is trying to have the front end lowered a tad as it may have aerodynamics problems at high speed.

I had a chance to ride in the first Viper Powered "Double Venom" Cobra that Classics by Elite made. Way to Fast. He is working on the second one right now, it has some TNT pieces on it, and chassis dynoed at 650+ RWHP (I think)....... also has a quick change rear end, and a suspension tuned for road racing. Gotta believe it will be silly fast time two.
