Hey Guys,

I have heard of comp coupe tranny mount (by energy suspension), but Jon B just sent me a set of "stiffer" Comp coupe engine mounts, and I am suprised to say, they look a lot like stock ones. What does the comp coupe engine mounts do more then the stock ones?

I KNOW the woodhouse ones that they use on the comp coupes are poly or something ... but these are not those. So what is it that I have here?

Anyone?

Those are stock mounts... part numbers confirm it.

If you want stiffer mounts, PolyMounts or better yet Woodhouse (Black) mounts are the way to go. The Woodhouse (Red) mounts are probably too stiff for the street in most cases.

Talk to ILLSMOQ, he ordered some from Woodhouse. I think he went with the Red's. He said they are stiff, but it would be first mod if he bought another Viper tomorrow. Ive driven his car and it shifts nicely. He says he really doenst miss a shift now when driving hard. The shifter doesnt shake around at idle, etc. Ive just been too lazy to get them because its a little work to get the engine mounts in.

So is there no such thing as Comp Coupe specific Engine mounts? Are they all just the same? All standard engine mounts?

Thanks,

Jon

Woodhouse has specific mounts for "street" and "track". Their track mounts are used on their comp coupes. I have their street mounts (black). Give Mark Jorgensen at Woodhouse a call and he'll break it down for you. They are not the same. Look here in Part II, pics of the PB, OEM and Woodhouse mounts. The read this thread for more details on the differences. I went with the Woodhouse mounts and they eliminated most of the flex. It feels as if the car came alive after installing them. You can feel the power being transferred to the wheels. Slightly more vibration but nothing that will annoy you.

My SRT-10 is at DC right now getting the Woodhouse poly street motor mounts installed. Shifting from 3 to 4 at WOT has been very difficult. Hopefully, this will help.

I have the Woodhouse race motor and tranny mounts on my GTS. Of course it's mostly a track car but, with the lope of the '97 cam, the whole car rocks back and forth gently at idle... it almost puts me to sleep when I'm waiting in the pits.

On the track, along with the monoball suspension bushings, it is one tight car!

I have the Woodhouse reds. When I ordered them red was the only choice. I don't know if mine are the race version but they changed the whole feel of the car. Solid is how I would describe it.

I have not mis shifted since I put these in.

I did notice a difference in vibrations transmited into the car, but it is hardly noticable....I would tell anyone thinking of getting them not to worry about extra vibrations

It would be the first mod I did on the next car.
