Corsa\'s installed

The install was pretty straight forward. My car had 80 miles prior to installation and the original exhaust came off fairly easily. I didn't have a problem with the sill screw by each door hinge, they were not installed at the factory. After removing each sill I noticed that the paint had never been touched by a screw and washer in those two spots.

I did the installation in my shop with jackstands and had plenty of room to maneuver the exhaust in and out. I continue to think that the middle pipes could be a little longer. The tips are a piece of art. I did learn that the clamps must be tightened all the way or exhaust leaks are inevitable.

The sound outside is louder and a little truckish. The sound inside is fairly quiet with no drone! Backing off the throttle at any speed is music to the ears. I'm sure a lot of throttle is nice too, but I'm not there yet due to break-in.

I think HF Cats are in the picture, but I need to find the flex pipe piece from the factory manifold back to the cat so that I don't have to cut my original flex pipe and cat. If you know of a place to get the two pipe pieces at a fair price, please let me know. I also installed tubes and filters at the same time.

Thanks to the "how to section" for exhaust intall tips.

Re: Corsa\'s installed

You haven't heard anything yet! Wait until your able to rev that sucker up to 6K in a tunnel/overpass... WOW!!! I also highly recommend the high-flow cats. Makes the exhaust sound even meaner.....

IMO, the Corsa sound good at idle (I have yet to hear a Viper that sound great at idle, unless a radical cam is added). But above 2500 RPM the sound is incredible! Exotic and mean at the same time...

Why go with a flex pipe? Get a straight pipe to replace it. It will flow better.

Mike

Edit: and don't forget to cut out the cats out.

Re: Corsa\'s installed

We just installed a CORSA cat-back on another member's GTS at my house yesterday. It is a QUALITY PRODUCT !!! Installation went very well (it helps to have done 4-5 other CORSA's in the past...tools all laid out). The look on the owner's face when he fired up his Viper in the garage was priceless.

THANKS, CORSA...ESPECIALLY Paul and Tom for your help !!!!

Re: Corsa\'s installed

Don't the Corsa and Borla exhausts both weigh more
than the stock exhaust? It probably isn't a big
deal but given a choice, I would rather get something
that is lighter. I have heard that the TNT cat
back is lighter than stock and works really well.
Any comments?

Re: Corsa\'s installed

I didn't weigh either one of them, but the factory rear muffler felt a lot heavier than the Corsa rear mufflers.

Re: Corsa\'s installed

I am sure about the stock exaust as I weighed it myself. Got the Corsa weight from this thread. The 3" stainless steel is a lot heavier than the stock system. The R/T cats I got from Jon B are much lighter than the stock ones.

I am PRETTY sure the shipping weight on my 3" Corsa was 71 lbs. I still have the more cube shaped box, and the shipping label says 41 lbs. I think the long box was 30 lbs.

Re: Corsa\'s installed

I wrote the how-to and unfortunately didn't think to weigh the exhausts. I am sure the Corsa is heavier as it is much larger piping, plus SS tends to be heavier than mild steel. I'd be skeptical that it weighs more than 30lbs or so over stock though. I just don't remember it being all that heavy.

Ken H,
I am sure you are spot on, and I would be very surprised if there is even 30lbs different. We do alot of Corsas and other systems, and they don't even feel much different than stock, though I am sure they are with their heavier gauge and going to a 3 inch width. Definitely worth the cost, and minimal amount in weight , as that 4 inch tip is gorgeous!
