Re: dealer concerns- how can I be sure it\'s a good car

A 5000 mile car can be a cream puff or a nightmare. Ask if this car was a "D-C Buyback" for warranty issues?

Used cars are AS-IS unless otherwise noted. On the sales contract, ask the dealer to write: "Selling dealer certifies that Vehicle has not been damaged in any way, except for normal wear and tear."

Any Dodge dealer can run the VIN # for warranty repairs. This 1999 could well be under OEM warrany. And it would reveal a buy-back.

DO BUY a D-C extended service contract...perhaps from a dealer here! Even AFTER the sale.

Will the dealer put you in contact with the "One Owner"? If THAT person is keen on the car, (maybe bought a 2001?) then you will have a great resource.

Carfax ? Does it go down the road ok? No wheel shimmy/drift at all? Any drips underneath? obvious stuff, really.

All very good info from JonB. Another good way is to locate a good viper tech at another dealer and take the car in for a buyers inspection. This could be 100.00 well spent. You should be present for this and ask the tech any questions you have.
