The Warranty starts on the "In Service" date. If you want, call me and I can run the VIN# and let you know what date it went into service.

I think there's another limitation - i.e. you can't not register a car for 20 years and then expect it to have a full warranty. Chuck is the person to help you - my guess is that the title may have stayed "open", the there's an ISD on the car in the D-C system.

That being said, it is my understanding that D-C is back selling warranties for cars this old - maybe even all the way back to 1994!

Janni, Where did you get this info? I'd love to buy another warranty if it was available.

No way on extended warranties for older Vipers I spoke to Chuck about it. I wanted one for my '98 and it's not avaialble.

One CAN get a USED CAR warranty on an older Viper IF one buys said Viper from a DODGE DEALERSHIP...and there is no history to prevent same such as salvage title...noting some mileage limitations vs. cost and length of USED CAR warranty (starting around 50,000 miles by my recollection). I have seen the brochures for this program at 2 Dodge dealerships.

FROM my post Dec. 2004...

"Now, I have ALSO LEARNED that indeed that if one purchases a used 1994 Viper (with less than 50,000 miles on car) FROM A CHRYSLER-Dodge dealer, that one can obtain an excellent warranty for up to 4-5 years starting the day of BOTH purchases (Viper and used car service contract).

To me, this REALLY helps the person wanting a pre-owned Viper, BUT that has been a little "shy" due to the potential costs of ownership, especially if something breaks !!! SEE YOUR FRIENDLY VIPER DEALER for more details...but, be aware, not ALL are familiar with these program changes.

Another point that I learned today from a "G.M." (who checked with a Zone Mgr.)...a Viper that is past the 3yr./36,000 miles point CAN indeed still be eligible to purchase the standard "extended new car warranty" as long as said Viper is less that 4 years old AND the milage is less than 48,000 miles). You are correct, I had forgotten the exception is when purchased form a Dodge dealer and with some limitations.

You are also correct, ViperJon...one CANNOT get a valid SECOND extended warranty from Dodge to follow original extended warranty period of coverage.
