Disconnecting the battery before installing headers and exhaust?

Should the battery be disconnected before beginning installation of my headers and removing the catalytic converters? I've read where this resets the computer and allows it to "re-learn" the air fuel ratio and such with the new modifications.

Always disconnect the battery. You are working near the starter and the hot positve battery cable.
