06 Coupe In August 2006 I bought a red coupe last one for the dealer to 07. Sold my 2006 Z06 vette after 2 months it had literally fallen apart. At the dealer I removed the 4 cats and mufflers and cross over pipes under the seat. Had the dealer install straight pipes from the header to the rocker panel. replaced the O2 sensors in the pipes. Saved about 200 pounds and the heat. Then had the dealer install 170 thermostat and had the computer reset for temp turn on for the fan. Changed the rear from 307 to 354 Now have 27000 miles on the car I am 83 and still enjoy it. It has been wonderful 19 years few minor problems with oil cooler lines and PS line. Changed the oil every 1000 miles have taken it to redline over and over again but never left rubber or slipped the clutch. Everything works on the car and is very reliable. Runs 175 even with the air on in 95 degree weather. Have changed all the fluids twice . If I could be buried in the car would be the way to go. Every spring I change the battery. I have taken the car everywhere I go supermarket errands no problem. My wife and I can't hear very well so the loud noise doesn't matter although we can't talk to each other in the car which isn't such a bad thing even in the hot weather I need the windows open ac on have to hear and feel the motor, never misses abeat. I can turn the alarms on in a parking lot by revving the motor. Have never ground a gear or missed a shift learned to drive on my brothers 49 ford with overdrive. Try speed shifting a 3 on the tree from 1 to 2, I can still do it. But I miss the smitty steel pack mufflers.

Hi, I have owned a 97 gts, 2003 srt10 and a 2006 srt10 coupe like yours. Sold them in my middle 40's due to finances. I just turned 64 and was thinking of buying another viper but asking myself if I was getting to old. I want to thank you for your post you have just given me the encouragement I needed to make that decision. I hope you keep driving yours till your are 100. Thanks Barry
