Can the valve covers be chromed? if so who does it and how much?

Thanks.
many Threads on this and i have plenty of first hand knowledge.your valve covers are made of magnesium which when polished looks great for about 4-8 weeks then it begins to oxidize, the difference between this oxidation of aluminum is that it does it from underneith which rules out repolishing. We have tried clearcoating and many other things to no avail. As far as plating the magnesium it will not hold up through the triple plate process.that is why we came up with the valve cover overlays, there is another option of a valve cover made of billit aluminum.pricey but a very good looking piece and that you can have plated.....hope this helps

And trying to get them re-powdercoated is a pian also as not many shops can chemically strip your VC's.

Thanks Scott,

I couldn't remember if the covers were Aluminum or Magnesium. I was inquiring about this because my stock covers are peeling. The red coating is flaking off! I take it from the heat or something. I don't know if this is covered under warranty or not, but anyways...can the covers be jet hot coated? (Silver?) Scott on your set up how would I hid the red powder coat? Mine are peeling between the topside and the plenum. (Where the screws go in to hold the covers on).
