Re: Don\'t rain on my Viper!

I don't know. The first time my '93 was ever rained on was in the parking lot of Chrysler's Auburn Hills headquarters. I figured there were at least 150 of the 200 or so owners in attendance at VOI #1 that were in the same boat. Most of us got over it pretty quickly.

Re: Don\'t rain on my Viper!

When I bought mine it had never been driven in the rain. I can't say that anymore! I have had no trouble in the rain. It is actually nicer to drive on cold rainy winter days than my K2500. Heats up much faster, the wipers are much cooler to watch and at 70 mph the rake of the windsheild sheds water such that you don't need to even use the wipers. No leaks either. Just be sure to engage your brain before the throttle (as is true in dry weather)....

Re: Don\'t rain on my Viper!

There are those in the collector car circles that consider "never driven in the rain" as a "plus"...and they are willing to pay more for a given car IF a thorough and meticulous inspection of the underside of the car SEEMS to support the claim. This is the white glove/cotton swab group that generally THINK they know the signs of cars driven in the rain. One CAN be fooled, however. That said, I have sold two Porsches and one Ferrari in the past that HAD NEVER been driven in the rain, even after two decades of ownership in one case...and I'm NOT convinced that it's REALLY that big of a deal to most folks, since many of us are often stretching it a bit to get the cars we want (and DON"T need another reason for a price BOOST!!!).

HAPPY NEW YEAR to All !!!

WOW...........memory lane !

Many owners at that photo-op had NEVER assembled their soft tops, much less installed them. Pac-NW VCA Member 002, Pete Agalzoff and I, had LOTS of "Rain Dance" experience. Some folks called out to us "RAIN MAN, RAIN MAN! " and we dashed around building and installing about 25+ tops in about 2-3 minutes EACH.....amazing the recipients ! That photo hangs on my office wall........

Later, I got caught in a BOOMER and you coulda transported live goldfish in my passenger seat. {Anyone here remember Miss MoPar Trucks? A tall redhead? }

Thanks, DeanIII....as the year ends, that was nice !

Wow, living in the Northwest, I can't imagine not driving my Viper in the rain. I don't drive over heavily graveled mountain passes, but I do drive the car regularly when it rains. I just have to wash it a lot.

Also, I have never understood the comments about Vipers not handling well in the wet. I've run a couple of PIR track days in the rain and the handling was fine. You just can't floor it in a turn....

Re: Don\'t rain on my Viper!

My '94 RT/10 was a "Rain ******". One advantage was that the car was always clean. I could put 500 - 1000 miles on the car and it still looked as if it had just been washed. It was also an advantage when I sold the car.
