Have you tried simply a squirt of WD40 on the latch mechanisms? As that is an easy fix if you are simply suffering from dryness there.

Let the jokes begin... But I am serious. Dryness... WD...

WD40? Never tried that. Astro Glide has always worked.

As for the door, does it seem to "catch" on the door trim when shutting? If it's bad enough, that could cause the problem you're experiencing when opening the door. I'd start with the lube, though.

it sounds like he door panel is dragging on the on the weatherstrip.Look at he weatherstriping along the bottom opening of the door and you will see some rubbing. The door is sagging just a little.Adjusting is fairly easy.If you take your time.

I'll try the wd and the door weather stripping. I believe it is hanging upo on the door latch that is in the door jamb. How do I adjust door sag? the hindge I guess. What is the best procedure, I would hate to make it worse.
Thanks for the help

From my past exp a BFH works well. You will need it to smack yourself right between the eyes after several failed attempts at adjusting. Funny thing these doors. You can get them lined up perfectly and the backside, carpet on the door will still drag on the weather strip. You adjust up and then the latch and striker are hitting. My door and I finally came to an adjustment that we both agreed on although it’s still not perfect. I still think that the panel needs adjusting after the door is properly lined up.

Mine could of been the fine adhesion technique that the previous owner used to bond the panel together after cracking it. This included cardboard and cyanoacrylate, if your reading this and you know you did it please contact me I’d like the original owners manual :)

The quick and simple version is to loosen all but the very top door hinge bolt. This is so the door cannot move fore/aft as you adjust it and cause interference problems with the hood.

After you have the other bolts loose fold a towel several times and lay it on the door sill and rest the door on it. You may have to experiment with how many folds to get it right. With the door resting on the towel tighten the hinge bolts. Remove the towel and test the door. Repeat if needed until it closes smoothly.

maybe this is not worth the risk of making it worse...it is really not that bad and not sure if an alignment is the issue.

Thanks.

I tried the towel method and made absolutely no progress. Went to a floor jack under the door - protecting the underside of the door with a wood block of course - and made the progress needed. I did also come to the conclusion it cannot be made perfect without doing things I care not to do on the passenger side door. I usually just ask my date to hike her legs over the window and climb in. :D
