Has any one replaced their viper doors with windows?(earlier version). Who does it and what is the cost? Also...has anyone just taken doors off a late model wrecked viper and put them on a earlier model with no windows? Is this do able?

There are people who have put "window" doors from Gen II Vipers onto Gen I cars. And I think you can a lightweight engine into your Viper, but... I had a 93 RT, and wanted the new wheels, hardtop, and AC. When I looked at the cost, I could have upgraded to a newer car. So I did.

If you need to replace the engine, or find a cheap engine or set of doors, it might be fun to do. In general, you don't get your money back on modified cars, Vipers included. You might want to price it out and see what a Gen II roadster would cost you compared to the upgrades.

Chris Barone has successfully retrofitted all mechanisms (without swapping doors) to any early roadster, but the cost would be very close to just trading in your Snake for a "windowed" version.

If you're interested, Chris' number is (973) 736-0465.

I'm doing it (sort of.... several suppliers really are doing the work, I just buy the parts
You must be registered for see images
), and I can tell you that unless you have a lot of time and patience, it would be cheaper to upgrade to a newer car.

The only reason it made sense for me was the car was damaged when I got it, and it needed a door and windshield surround anyway. I sold the good door, and bought two roll up window RT doors. But that is just the beginning. You need to wire up the doors, buy inner doors, many pieces of trim, a different top (s), many door gaskets, make a modification to the sport cap to hold the door gasket.... Oh, and if you want to do it right, a new windshield and surround.

Without serious re-engineering, the 1997+ Gen-II RT/10 doors (with electric windows) will NOT simply be interchangeable w/ 1992-1996 windowless Gen-I RTs.

It takes a wizard like Chris Barone re-engineer to make it work. Even then, I wonder if the TOPS still fit at all?
