DOUBLE POLE POSITION FOR HAYLES RACING
New team Hayles Racing got its first season off to a great start by claiming pole position for tomorrow's British GT Championship
opener - in both the GT and GTO classes.
London-based New Zealander Rob Wilson, of Oxfordshire, will lead the field away in round one at Silverstone, Northamptonshire,
after his driving partner Tim Harvey set a blistering pace to put the Swan Hospitality-backed Chrysler Viper on the number one grid
position.
The former British Touring Car Champion, of Woodstock, Oxfordshire, was four tenths of a second quicker than the second-placed Lister and more than half a second under the race lap record.
Harvey said: "That wasn't one of my cleanest laps but it got the job done and I think it will have looked quite spectacular! I'm
delighted. So far, so good."
And Team Principal Curtis Hayles, of London, starts the team's first race at the head of the GTO pack after his co-driver Ben Devlin, of Norfolk, claimed pole on his championship debut. The 18-year-old was half a second clear of the rest of the GTO runners on the drying Silverstone International circuit.
Hayles said: "I'm over the moon with that. We've definitely made our presence felt today. Both Vipers have been fantastic and Tim
and Ben did a brilliant job.
"It's a great way to start the season even if things don't go to plan tomorrow. But we're definitely looking good."
