Where is John H proposing his Monday race? Bowling Green KY is a first class track. Nashville is only an 1/8 and no where as nice.

The track is in Bowling Green,Ky which is about 45 mintues north of Nashville. Beach Bend Raceway (Do a search for web page) is a 1/4 mile track with top-notch facility's. The Houston VCA should be having one heck of a event!! See you there.

Can someone please explain why there is no drag racing that is officially connected with the VOI. It almost seems un-American. With such a nice drag facility located sixty miles away, why couldn't the planners of VOI get the use of the track, even if it was Sunday or a night event??

All I can release for now is that YES, there WILL also be drag racing on September 25th, the day BEFORE the Invitational "officially" starts.

However, I'm only just ONE of a number of VCA members, regions, and even entire ZONES having a hand in this event to make it happen. When the official announcement is ready to be made, I believe there are going to be a LOT of happy people. It's really going to be something special. Details ASAP.

The first annual Z06FEST will be held Sept 26-28 and the track has already been rented out for drag racing and autocrossing. It would be nice to see some friendly competition up there. I know of a few owners that will attend both events.

David: I've never been to a Beech Bend Bash, but I heard alot of negative comments this weekend about it. One thing that made me mad was the idiot(Zaino guy) that got his camcorder hung underneath a guys car that was out autocrossing, then blamed the guy for breaking/melting his camera and demanding he pay for it. I'm sorry, but if you leave a camera bag with equipment just laying on the ground behind a bunch of parked cars, you shouldn't be out there.

The main thing I heard people talk about was the track condition. Even the guys running DRs were complaining. Another comment was lack of runs on the strip. A few of the autocrossers had to get out of line to attend the mandatory drivers meeting that was "supposed" to start an hour after T-N-T(it was more like 10-15 minutes). There were also gripes about events not starting when they were supposed to. Reading your post, it sounds like there was just a miscommunication with the track staff. That could happen at any event. I've only been to about 5 events at Beech Bend and they were all pretty much on schedule. I do remember the track was in horrible shape at the Cruise-In last year. I don't think they put any VHT down at all.

As for the Z06FEST, from what I hear there was not enough "definites" from the Z06 crowd to make it to Bowling Green last year, so the guys who were promoting it decided to wait. It will definitely happen this year, as they have already booked the museum and the track.
