Hi Guys,

I just bought an 01 GTS - ARC and have a couple of questions for the group.

1) Has anyone adjusted their shocks for the street? If so, I'm guessing that your using the minimum compression damping and the maximum rebound damping. I tried this today and it's easy to do. How do you set your cars up for a Viper days or similar events? Number of clicks or ? These are the Dynamic adjustables.

2) Do the Gen II cars really hurt for / need an exhaust upgrade? This car runs really nicely, but is slow as molasses compared to my SRT-10 (when it was stock) - no flame intended, just like to wake this baby up. It looks like it's super fast just sitting there, red with silver stripes, now I need to make it go like it looks but want to stay all normally aspirated and no NOS. Suggestions?

Thanks,

Dan

I'd start with the BPU treatment, (Basic Performance Upgrades), ie, new airbox, or minimally, take the baffle out of the stock air box, K+Ns, Random Tech High Flow Cats, Corsa cat back, then maybe heads and cam. And take that huge flywheel off! John Horton of West Coast Viper can get you 700 natural. Its just a matter of how much you want to spend- The faster you spend it, the faster you go.

For shocks and alignment, we in Orange County have our inscrutable suspension guru, Eric Messley. Last word was, he is high on a mountain top in the Himalayas, and can only be reached with considerable meditation. Alternatively, you could call him on his cell. I'll PM you his phone number tomorrow.

Vic, you been reading Supra magazines over the weekend of something? :p BPU and Vipers aren't supposed to be in the same sentence. :D

Upgrades on a Gen II, really depend on a couple things. How much $$ you got to play with, how much power do you want out of it, and how you want to make it(NA for you)

Normal upgrades to start are: Tubes/filters, Headers, HF cats, exhaust. Then to stay NA--heads, cam, rockers, VEC2, etc..

My suggestion is NOT to wait, get it done ASAP and enjoy the power, and new sound! :2tu:

Hey Vic,

Thanks for the note. My SRT-10 is at West Coast now getting roller rockers, a roll bar and six points. John's a great guy and quite a tuner. I'll probably pick his brain on Wednesday when I pick up the SRT-10.

Do you ever go to Crystal Cove (Saturday morning) or Fuddruckers (Tuesday afternoon)?

On the 2001's you have the Dynamic shocks. They come with very heavy spring rates. I would change to a lower spring rate. I have a 2000 ACR with Konis which have a lower spring rate which I like. You already have tubes and filters so I would start with exhaust and cats, then headers, roller rockers, computer, thermostat, heads and cam. Just make sure to get all the parts to complement each other.
