EBC\'s dusting like OEM

OK, it would have been nice to have known that EBC changed their Green pad compound a year or so ago before I recommended them to my dad.

I put these on my 95 and the dust drastically was reduced. I recommended them to my dad when he bought his 01. Turns out that he got the new pads and they dust like OEM. We are now looking into other pads. I am testing Hawk Ceramic pads on my wife's Mini Cooper which is no Viper but we'll see. Do you have dustless recommendations for a non track Viper?

Porterfield R4-S. Not for track use but my brake dust issue has gone down to very little if any. And, there is no brake squeal like the OEM's! A little pricey. Fronts were $170 for the set and the rears were $100.

Same thing I use. They are a little pricey though.

Craig, as I still have some of the original EBC Greenstuff pads on several Vipers, dust is at a minimum. Go to the GreatBrakes website and read the current specs..."interesting"...noting that "yes" the compounds have been changed...and, that the Greenstuff seems to be recommended for light-to-medium weight cars, with the new ceramic Redstuff being the recommended pad for Vipers ...as I read the info.

Hawk HPS work great. I have no experience with them for track use, but have them on lots of different cars including three Vipers. Very low dust, great feel and very low rotor wear.

Switched from dusty EBC greens to Porterfields myself and see very little dust at all. In fact, they are less dusty than the original compound EBC greens I have on my other Viper. Also heard that Hawk HPS were good but never tried them yet.

I'm going to switch to the EBC reds. I now have Hawk HPS and they're okay but they sqeeeel like hell. It sounds like a train when I pull into town approaching the light.

Re: EBC\'s dusting like OEM

I wish but I don't think anyone is going to want to trade me Reds for Greens. I'd like to see if yours squeak on my dads 01. I'm stuck with ones that stop the car really good but dust like OEM and you have once that stop the car but squeak. We're screwed.

Since EBC changed the Green compound, I wonder if they are good now for people to use at tracks? It would be stupid to throw these away if they are good for someone.

I have absolutely no squealing at all with the Hawk HPS. I did put anti-squeal compound on the back of them before I installed them, but I don't know if that is really a factor or not.

Re: EBC\'s dusting like OEM

I called Jon B. a few months ago to order some other stuff and asked him about the EBC green, new compound, issue. He advised to go with EBC Red ceramics. Took his advice and thus far they are exactly what I was hoping for. No squeal, reduced dust. Not dust free, but much less than OEM.

Disclaimer: I only drove the car about 85 miles prior to putting it away for the winter so my observations are on limited miles.

Lastly, for those posers, with the OEM calipers, I like seeing the red color poking through vs. green. :D

Really?

Mine don't squeel at all. Just installed the pads on resurfaced slotted/cross drilled rotors.
