I have been reading all of the opinions on the 2003 viper from the people in this forum. Last week when I first saw the pictures I was pretty disappointed. I had all of the same feelings: Camaro, not really a Viper, How could they do that?, I should not have to see it in person (a photo worked for the last car), etc...
Well, I saw the car yesterday, face to face (so to speak), and quite frankly, I drooled. It IS AWESOME. I looked at Ferrari's, Porches, Lambo's, and none could beat my desire to HAVE that car. To say it was better looking than the current Viper (or my '94) would be false, but I do think it is just as good looking in a fresh way. When you think about all of the MAJOR improvements and 500hp on tap.....

WOW.

Don't worry, it is still the best, and you will find yourself drooling.

Thanks for the exiting update Jeff - gladly I am way up in front on the Woodhouse list - can't wait to get mine.

Any other comments from face to face viewers will be appreciated.

how wide did it look - is the difference noticable ?

Hans,

The appearance did not seem much wider than the current car. The part that I really liked was how Looonnnnnggg the hood appeared, kind of a "cab rearward" design as opposed to "cab centered" like our cars. That was cool. I was standing next to a non-viper owner who said he would have never have bought the original car, he did not like the appearance, but absolutely loved the new design.
Overall, the car still appears about the same size. If I had complaints, I would say I will miss the Clamshell hood and the trunk area appears a bit higher (it won't have that low, flat appearance that I like so much). The car also seems to have, and I can't tell you what exactly gives it this look, a very Mercedes type quality build to it. It just looks better built, and I don't really know why. Tighter I guess.

It is a great car.
