Curious if anyone offers factory wheel center caps for 98 RT/10 wheels with Logo outlined in red. This is very common on Porsches where you can get red outlined logo in the center cap.

Not sure if anyone really thinks this looks good.

I have seen a few posts where the owner outlined the logo themselves but have not seen any pictures.

Thoughts?

With winter coming, looking for possible things to do.

Thanks.

In fact, a well-known Vendor here USED to do that! When the cap-price skyrocketed, they stopped. We have some various used sets laying around, Blue and Yellow come to mind.

If you are willing to SEND your caps back East, Im sure he could do yours to order...

Hey, I actually thought about painting my vents bright metallic purple and then having a matching purple Viper windshield banner to provide additional contract....NOT!!!

Seriously, the painted caps look nice on Porsches, had a few in my past. Just not sure it would add to the look or just add a new "rice" dimension to the car. I'm all for improving looks but not doing things just for the sake of doing.

Photoshop is a great idea, I'm just not good enough at it. Maybe someone on here can volunteer and I can take a few closeups of the cap.

Thanks much.

Thanks Jon, I think that the photoshop idea would be my first step, as seeing it is the best way to evaluate. I may actually not like it once I see it on the car. If I do, however, I may take you up on the offer to have it done.

Thanks very much for the offer.

Okay, here are a couple of quick shots of the center cap. You can see that there is a little wear on the logo.

And Jon, just for the record, is it the logo outside edge that is painted or the background as it looks in my avatar?

Thanks very much to all.

The prior owner of my 96 GTS B/W bought GTS blue touch up paint at the dealer and painted the white part of the cap centers blue. Man, I wish he hadn't done that. Since the centers are clearcoated, the paint would not come of without taking off the clearcoat. It cost me $200 to have the four center caps wet sanded to remove the clearcoat and polished back to original by an aluminum polishing shop. Now I have to reclearcoat them. I really did not like the look and had no idea fixing this would be so costlly.

The guy told me he spent 4 hours on each center cap making them shine like jewels and to never bring him any more.

First, I want to thank everyone for helping out and those who submitted pics. Now that I've seen them, I think I'm going to pass as the red caps seem to just not fit the Viper's look...in my opinion. I think, rather than being additive as with the Porsche, I actually think it is distracting to the overall look of the car.:nono:

Again, thanks for helping me make the decision.:2tu:

Much appreciated, as always!:headbang:

Think I'll go back to focusing on performance mods!:drive:

Peter....don't do it. Once you start with the first performance mod...you're hooked. You start with something innocent like Smooth Tubes and filters. Then comes the exhaust, cats and headers...Can't do all that without a tune so soon you'll be choosing between the SCT Tuner and a Vec3. When you get used to that new power...you'll want rockers. Then you'll be debating about Ported Heads and/or Roe vs. Turbo. Is there any end to this madness????? :omg: :D

Tony, good point and well taken. I just received my red smooth tubes and S&B filters from Sean last week. Will be putting in once I recover from my hip surgery. Hey, a ROE SC on my cane would be a blast!!!!!:headbang:

Not sure where I will go after the smooth tubes/filters...do think it would be some mod on the exhaust. Only problem is, that's a big jump in $$$ from the first mod.:nono: Little ones work when you have a couple of young kids, but the big ones...now those do cause major ripples in the household if you know what I mean.:rolaugh:

Gotta go slow....see how things go.:eater:

See ya at one of the next events, once I'm cleared to ride in a car. Think there is an upcoming event at Chuck's place that I would like to show up at...right now, up in the air.

Later.
