I agree with your reasoning... the R1 may have a stiff sidewall, but overall it's got to be a lot better for drag racing than the stock tires.
Would you be taking your car to the strip at any point? 0-60 on the G-Tech is one thing, but I'd LOVE to know how your 60' times look at the track.
Drag radials are great, but they don't wear too well, require burnouts to heat them up, and aren't too good on the street. Tires like the R1's provide WAY better road handling than stock tires, better overall grip (drag strip), and their only downsides are they don't wear too good (who cares) and probably **** in the rain (who cares).
If you can test your tires at the strip, you'll save me doing this test
