I'm that buddy Chad is talking about. I live in Woodstock, GA, which is Cherokee County, just north of Atlanta. Cherokee has the same testing requirements as Fulton, Cobb, and the other metro counties. I have a '94, so I have to run the car on a dyno. Since you have a '96+ all you'll have to do is plug into an OBDII tester, its pretty simple. Some shops will insist on seeing the Cats, which is very tough on VIPERS, but for the most part the test is no big deal...
Also, if you need the name of a good shop close to Atlanta to do the test I can refer you to the place that does mine. They are great people that won't give you any trouble and are used to dealing with expensive cars.
