Hi All
Firstly Id like to say I'm new to this Viper scene having just bought one. Its a 1997 GTS with Roe supercharger 10psi and Nos injection. And I have to say its the best looking car i've owned including Ferrari's and Maserati's and Im in love with it!

I have a few things to sort on it:-

Firstly my handbrake just moves up and down with no resistance and does not work. They have 2 cables I believe so dont think they could both go at once? Does anyone have an idea what part I need and how I get to it?

Second I had a hole in the front coolant bottle at the bottom causing coolant to come out and now I have an airlock. The heater matrix has been removed as it was leaking and a straight through pipe used. How am I best to bleed the coolant system? Is there any tricks without having to buy extra bits or cut hoses?

Thanks in advance for any help.

With the hand brake issue I had the same problem on my old GTS. I was told to push the release button in while pulling the handle up and down numerous times to self adjust it. That did not work and in fact it was a broken cable. Had it replaced and all was good.

Thanks, I have had a go but it went suddenly and is completely loose. I didnt think it could be cables as there is 2 one for each wheel and you would expect just one to go, is there a linkage on the handbrake that may have gone and how am I best to check (Can I take the transmission cover off in the car to see anything??

You should remove the center console to see if cables are still connected to parking brake assembly.

There is a DIY for removing the console here: http://forums.viperclub.org/threads/602926-Fixed-my-cracked-center-console

When you remove that console piece that you rest your arm on, it exposes the top of the frame center section. There is a boxed in cavity that is open to view only from the top, where you will see the two cables come in from the exterior and go to an adapter to one cable to the handbrake mechanism. That's my recollection; but, it has been a few years since I've seen that area.
