I'm trying to put the eibachs in, and I can't even get past the first rear coil over. I have the nuts off both the upper and lower bolts, and I have the bolts unscrewed most of the way. Now both just seem to be spinning and I can't get them completely out. Any suggestions? Ready to wack at it, but wanted to check here first.

Compress the shock with a crowbar, bust your knuckles, wrap your hands in bandages to keep your blood from dripping on the suspension and wiggle the bolts out.

Take an open end wrench, place over the shank of the bolt and against the head and tap it out with a hammer....hitting the wrench. If you can, have someone push/pull down on the lower a-arm and that will take some pressure off. Do the bottom first and the top will be easy.

1TONY1, thanks, I'll try that, I'm still stuck.

Do these bolts need to be unscrewed, or do they just pull out?

I see metal shavings like I stripped these things, if they are only half out and stripped I am truely lost and don't know what to do next.

Sorry about the pics, I left them big so there would be more detail.

why couldn't you just put a floor jack underneath the A arm and jack it up untill it compresses the spring and releases the tention. I was planning on lowering my 06 coupe myself. But now have reconsidered and will pay to have it done. Good luck

take a hammer and large flat blade screwdriver and the bolt on the top of the shock, put the flat blade on the washer of the bolt and hit it with the hammer and it should come out, by looking at the pic. do the same thing to the bottom bolt, just my .02

take a punch and stick it in the hole and take a hamme r and hit the punch, thus pushing the bolt out. If you dont have a punch take a screw driver and cut the end off and slide it in the hole and hit it with a hammer, Ive done this in similiar situations and it works for me.

I tried jacking on the a-arm, no luck. I wish I had just paid to have it done too. I like trying this stuff myself but this time I am screwed.

twinturbo3150, thanks for the suggestions, I will try 1st thing in the AM. I don't think I can get a punch through the hole because the shock assembly has shifted so that only 1/2 the hole is showing, but I will try anything. Damn, [******] am I going to do if I can't solve this.

Will do, thanks. Can you tell me if the bolts are supposed to just pull out, or do they unscrew. I'm worried there is more threads to unscrew and they are stripped. If that is the case, I will never get them out.

I dont know, Im just giving you suggentions what I have done that worked on other vehicles. I would think that the bolt just slides through the hole,

Just like you have done.....screw them out as far as you can then do like I said. Why would you jack up on the A-arm when I tell you it needs to be spread apart ? I have done this many times. An outside spring compressor will help if you can't get someone to pull down on the a-arm for you (although I have never needed one) From top to bottom it needs to be spread apart. No offense to the other gentleman but think about it......he tells you to jack up on the assembly then he tells you to compress the spring....those are opposites. Do NOT jack up on the a-arm ......
it will make it worse.

The a-arm needs to come down or the bottom of the shock needs to go up....move those two apart. Like Chuck said...... You can get a pry bar or large screwdriver between the a-arm and shock and pry to get the pressure off the bolt.

1st you need to take the pressure off of the shock. Use a spring comperssor. once you do that it should come off easy. Do not try to remove it without a compressor. The shock and spring can unload and cause damage or injury. A cheap spring compressor will work and should be availible at just about any parts house.

Victory!!!!! I got the ***'in ***** out with some smashing and a crowbar I went and bought. cgmaster, I did the crowbar before I saw your post, only needed a little bit of leverage. Thanks to all for the support, especially tony and chuck.

But, I'm thinking now what. Do I keep going with this, they say the hardest part is to come. I'm a little concerned with the front now, it looks like the end link will get in the way, do I need to move it? Also when I put these ****** back in, do I do the top or the bottom first?
