Would you guys consider buying a 1993 with 23,000 miles on it without having the head gaskets replaced?

How much is this repair?

Depends on the asking price of the car...and if it's still under warranty. My '94 just went into the shop for head gaskets. I was told roughly $2400; luckily, mine's still under warranty, and getting a rebuild.

It would not stop me from buying the car. There was a price increase in parts. The repair was around $1800.00, but you should get a quote from a Viper tech.

The price is 35K and not a bit lower.
Car has 23,000 miles on it. Car is in mint condition and doesn't leak.
No warranty. Is it possible to get another warranty? I see some guys actually still have them on old vehicles.

I bought a 94 with 32K on it. It now has 38K on it and I have not had any head gasket problems so far. Head gaskets on these year cars a definitely a problem. I believe it's not a matter of will it go bad as a matter of when it will go bad. To have them replaced you are looking at $2,000.00 give or take. Explain to the seller you are aware of the head gasket problems on these model years and see if you can get him to lower the price some. The Gen1's are good cars, the head gaskets seem to be their major glitch. Good luck and post pic's if you get the car.

Think that's a little high but could be wrong.

That car is only worth $30k and that is tops.

Probably one owner. He paid lots so he thinks it's worth lots.

If its a "Whole Car" has been maintained (taken care of), goes down the road straight, etc. And you want the car. Its up to you what your willing to pay. If you try and get a deal and buy the cheapest car on the market, it could turn into a nightmare.
Rate the car 1-10, Check the market prices 1-10. Make a fair offer.

Maybe a tad high, but price seems in the ballpark to me, especially if the car is in very nice shape. Did you look underneath to check the condition of the gaskets; definitely a negotiation point if they show signs of weepage.
FWIW, there's a local(ish) non-Dodge dealer that has been trying to move a '94 for $29k since last fall, and still no buyers as of a few weeks ago (had ad in the paper). Of course, it could be due to either a) the dealer is a complete a-hole or b) the car looks rough.
For all those claiming clean early GenI's are in the high 20's/low 30's, please, let's see them!
Good luck with the search; hold out for something you are truly happy with!

I hope it sells for asking price.
That will help out us "Gen 1" people, hold the prices up.
Good luck to you, you will love your Gen 1....the only true vipers :)
Cheers,
