Had my GTS out last night.. First time since I've actually needed to use the heat... Turned the heat on, to the vent setting(vents above the radio) ICE COLD.... Now Im worried I must be low on coolant or something, because the car was completely warmed up... Then I switch it to the floor setting, and its scorching hot..... Weird, very wierd... Is mine the only one that does this?

Pretty easy to identify new owners with that question.

Yes, the Gen I/II HVAC system did not provide for mixing. Thus the top vents & crotch holes can only do a/c and the bottom & defrost can only do heat. Archaic yes, but enough given the limited exposure to cold. Get a Gen III and you will never need the heat, even though its system is a full mixing type.

No kidding ... when I first got my ACR, I took it to the dealer because I thought the HVAC system was broke.

I took it to my dealer back in 97. Poor guy didn't have a clue about the strange ways of the Viper HVAC system. :D

Lower the seat. Move the seat forward a bit. Wear long sleeved winter underwear up top. There must be some aftermarket vendor that makes the underwear with a Sneaky Pete logo_Or, just move to South Florida or a place with similar weather less the hurricanes. LOL.

This is definitly a pain in the butt. I can be driving and have my feet overly hot and the rest of me cold. I dont like the look of the softtop or the windows on the car, but if you put them on, the car warms up quick!

Maybe mine's broken but I thought you could get hot or cold when running the defroster (which then also blows out the bottom.) At least it comes out in two places and you can vary the temp...

Yes, but I believe the compressor is running if you do that.

I did the same thing. Was very worried and then after a few posts on the board and the dealer addressing the situation, I learned this. Was a little disappointed.
