Heat shield \"boots\" for your spark plugs

I just got some heat shields for my spark plugs. (Parts Rack sells them as "snake socks")

They are soft cloth sleeves that fit over the stock spark plug boots.

I can't for the life of me get them to work. I put them on, and then can't get the spark plug boots to go back on. There is a washer at one end that gets in the way.

Anyone else using these on their SRT-10? What am I doing wrong?

Re: Heat shield

there really is no need fro them, I have not had a heat problem with spark plug boots i 10000 miles.

If I had the stock exhaust manifolds, I wouldn't worry.

Ever since I installed my headers, however, things have become a bit hotter under the hood. I've put heat shielding on all the hoses, wiring, etc. I figured that the spark plug boots/wires deserve some protection too.

I think I've got the boots figured out. I guess I just wasn't pushing hard enough to seat the rubber boot back on the plug end.
