Several posted pictures of engines  with headers do not have heat shields. I had my Borla Headers Jet Hot Coated to 2500 degrees. Should I be concerned about not running heat shields??

I've had the ceramic coated belangers on two Vipers without heat shields and never a problem. I have covered the a/c air with heat reflective material where it faces the headers.

I have also been running coated belangers without heat shields for some time with no problems. It would be interesting to know if the problems are isolated to SS headers, a particular brand that perhaps comes closer to the problem areas, road racing or ?

Re: Heat Shields or No Heat Shields

I was thinking the same thing a few months back when I did my upgrades, and then saw a post on here that someones car burnt up (no heat sheilds) so that pretty much made up my mind that I wasn't going to risk my Viper for a little coolness that would (unfortunately) rarely be seen. It also buys peace of mind :)

I guess maybe it depends on how much time you spend in rush hour traffic.
Ceramic coated and no problems here. I like the bling and keep my PS cap tight.

I have the Belanger headers and after a couple of days driving with them the plastic around the heater fan was getting wavy and starting to melt. I went with the heat shields beacuse I had to, but they do look nice.
