I looked down the other night for the first time at the heat shield over the driver's side header outlet and elbow and saw that part of the wiring harness runs down and actually rests on the shield. The harness wrap looks pretty tired and has a couple cracks in it. Does anyone know if this is normal routing or is mine hanging oddly low? I went ahead and ordered a little high heat insulating wrap for this portion of the harness to at least temporarily solve the problem. But I'd like to get it up and out of the way. Just not sure how to go about doing that. Any input is appreciated, thanks.

Normal routing. I put a small heat resistant spacer made out of sleeving underneath the wiring at the contact point
Your harness look pretty bad, you need to wrap it. Use some cloth tape designed especially for automotive wiring

We actually have rolls of the OEM tape used to make these harnesses.

As pointed out, you need to lift that off when warm, unwrap, check all the wiring for damage, and if OK, Re-Wrap, and ideally install a thermal protection spacer/wrap after its repaired so that it doesnt continue to cook the wiring or abrade the insulation/tape again.
