My heater in my 98 GTS always blows air through the dash vents and the holes in the lower dash. I looked at all the vacume actuators ant they seem to be working fine.
The heat switches between the defrosters and side floor vents with no problems but the whole time the dash and crotch vents are blowing cold air.
If anyone could help I would sure appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

I believe the heat only blows out of the floor and defrost setting. The other ones is AC.Do a search on it. It was asked not to long ago. Hope this helps.

Blue Streak,
I looked up the last thread on this, they were having a diferent kind of problem, but thanks anyhow.
My problem is that it allways blows cold air out of the vents even when the heat is coming out of the defrosters or heat vents.

Not that I ever really need heat here in S. Cal, but...

My '97 never blows heat at any knob setting at any of the vents. The heater valve arm (in the engine compartment near the cold air intake..pass side) moves when I move the knob, so maybe the internal part of the valve doesn't work?? I'm gonna take it apart this weekend and look.

Any other ideas out there?

My fascia coolant recovery bottle is empty. Gonna fill it this weekend also. Overflow tank is always full. I can't see that this is relevant, but we'll see.

Not a big deal if I ever figure this one out cause after the car is warmed up, the inside warms up nicely anyway.

Check to make sure your vaccuum pickup line from the right side intake runner is plugged in (although if its not plugged in, you'll have some performance issues, also). If its not plugged in, there will be no vaccuum to change the flaps to route the air past the heater core.

If the vacuum line *is* connected, the same symptom could be caused by a plugged vacuum line, perhaps at the phantom "check valve" behind the stereo head unit - well, thats where its supposed to be, although I don't think there is one there.

Incidently, the check valve is either never installed or never works - hence why you get a sudden blast of hot air under hard acceleration with the A/C on all Vipers that I've driven. I fixed this problem with my '00 by adding a check valve in the engine compartment between the intake runner and the vacuum line.
