Re: Hell\'s Bells, a ride with the devil
Faint praise, for a car that outperforms the Muci in 6 out of 10 MT performance tests, has world class braking, 3.9 0-60 scorching acceleration, crisp turn-in, and beats the Ferrari Enzo in Motor Trend's figure 8 test, both in lower time, and higher average G's. (Oct issue, pgs 80 and 160)
While mag numbers are notoriously innacurate and misleading, you don't even approach Enzo numbers unless you are "right there" with the world's best. So even if the numbers are off, the SRT still proves itself worth more than Clarkson's faint praise, regardless.
Hp/L may be a yardstick of engine sophistication, but it is not a measure of pure performance. The SRT gets mpg on a par with the world class cars that it runs with, or beats. Pathetic? No! Simple? Yes, wonderfully simple. Thank God we "Yanks" can drive simple, pure power, and not have to pay exorbitant European prices for driving excitement. Maybe the "father", (Britain), just can't seem to honestly compliment the "son", (USA) That's ok, we've been doing fine on our own!
The worldwide press should give the SRT a resounding standing ovation!
