Have tried in vain to get trailer to haul my car out of state and have found a "U HAUL" transport trailer that I can use. I was wondering if anyone can tell me if they have used one as the "U HAUL" company says that it lists the Dodge Viper as being able to haul. The only trouble is I have to drive about 300 miles to get it and would like to know for sure it will work.

The U HAUL transport trailer is the only one I am talking about.

Thanks everyone for your help.

Not overly familiar and I have never rented from U Haul, I have seen them and I think one problem you may really have is the loading, they seem rather steep on the ramps and also seems that there is a center curbing to keep the wheels in the tracks, not sure if this would scrap the bottom of the car ?? You have to check.....the good way to load a car is to find a low spot in either your driveway or the nearest parking lot, put the trailer down in this lower spot to lower the trailer bed closer to the ground BUT be very careful to always load the trailer as if you are going UPHILL or the car will roll forward and cause damage...the other thing to be careful of is if you do MAKE sure the car is very tightly winched down with very strong straps because I think these trailers use surge brakes and will really be putting a lot of movement on the car on the trailer !! Very hard to even get someone to loan you a trailer BECAUSE there are so many things that can happen and unless the towee has a lot of knowledge/experience a lot of bad things can cause some quick damage as well as making sure you have some insurance coverage in case of a really bad incident !! Sorry to ramble on but care cannot be over stressed, don't be rambunctious and say I KNOW what to do, towing a car can be a humbling experience especially when doing 60 MPH and a guy cuts right in front of you and gets off the exit while you lock up the brakes and hope for the best !! Just my $.02

I would probably call Gary Almond or Reliable to transport. Unless U Haul has changed their trailers, there could be damage from road rocks and debris to the front of the viper.

I bought a new 20' Haulmark enclosed, on e bay for 4,900 a few years ago, I picked it up at the factory in AZ.
We primed and painted the interior and put a rubber trailer mat on the floor. Its actually fairly nice.

Maybe look @ e bay if you want an enclosed trailer.

I did use a U-haul to transport my viper a short distance - but mine did not have the front or rear fascia on. They have two models - so you need to find the wider one. Loading and unloading may be a bit of a challenge. You may need to get a couple of 2x6's to help flatten the ramp angle. You may also need the 2x6's to put under the front tire so that front end clears.

Good luck!

Thanks Guys as I really appreciate your comments and have given me new thoughts in how I'm gonna transport. 'Rocket" I did measure the U Haul and you are right. It leaves VERY little room on the width and after checking with U Haul Web Site found they do offer a wider trailer to which no on ever explained. I'll check with Gary almond but heard he wasn't transporting as he stays out of the country. I'll try and reach him. I'll also consider the loading angle and you are right the U Haul does have surge brakes.

Thanks again for your thoughts and ideas.
